From the Desk of Principal Terry Gavin Brown
|

Dear Parents:
December is just around the corner, and we have just a few short weeks of school, until our winter break! This is the beginning of our second trimester, and as always our teachers will be working hard working with all students. This month we will be bringing back our Study Island contest, Holiday Hope and Home for the Holidays. Check the PV News for more information as it becomes available.
The office staff sends out a very big thank you to Rebeca Marthinsen, Lindsay & Amber Odell's mom, for donating the new garmet rack for all of the Lost & Found items. During the week of parent-teacher conferences, many lost clothing items found their way back to their owners. Please be sure to check our new rack daily, as we will be donating forgotten items as winter break begins.
Monday, November 30, at 7:00 p.m., is our next PTA meeting. We have a wonderful presentation for parents pertaining to bullyproofing. Be sure to read the information below from our PTA President, Linda Blum.
Tuesday, December 1, is our next Dine & Donate at Mary's Pizza Shack. Twenty percent of your purchase comes back to Pleasant Valley. Think about how fun it could be to sit around the table with your family for "game night" while munching on Mary's famous bread sticks, and a warm pizza!
The Reflections Art Program deadline is this next week. For more information, please check the pveagle.org website. You can download all the instructions, and entry information. For more information, you can also contact Tim Davidson. I hope you enjoyed your week with your family and loved ones. I was able to visit my oldest daughter in Chicago, and had a wonderful, relaxing trip.
Sincerely, Terry Gavin Brown

Reflections Art Program
|
Calling all Artists!
It is time for the annual PTA Reflections Program, where
students can showcase their artistic talents in six different artistic categories: Literature, Musical Composition,
Photography, Visual Arts, Dance Choreography, and Film/Video Production.
The theme of this year's Reflections Program is
"Beauty is. . ."
Students are invited to design a piece in one of the six
art areas that represents this theme. The deadline for entries is December 1,
2009. See your arts teacher or go to the front office for entry forms and
guidelines. Entries may be submitted to the front office on or before Tuesday,
December 1st. All entries must be the work of only one student and must be
original works and must relate to the theme "Beauty is. . ."
Entries are judged at the local, state and national
levels. Winners will be selected in each of the six art categories and given
Awards of Excellence and Awards of Merit, which are recognized and displayed as
part of the national PTA program's traveling exhibit. Participation is open to
all students.
The National PTA Reflections Program is an arts
recognition and achievement program for students. For 40 years, the program has
provided students an opportunity to express themselves creatively and receive
positive recognition for original works of art inspired by the annual theme,
which this year is "Beauty is. . ." The program also seeks to
increase community awareness of the importance of the arts in education.
For more information, please call Tim Davidson, Pleasant
Valley's Reflections Representative or go to the California State PTA Reflections Home Page. Look for Entry Forms both in English and Spanish and Previous Years Winners on the right
panel.
