I attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and received my Bachelor of Science in
Kinesiology. After contemplating a career in healthcare, I realized that my
heart was truly in teaching and working with children. I attended Chapman
University and received my teaching credential. I taught 3rd, 4th and 5th
grade for 3 years in Orange before moving to Novato to be closer to my now
husband, Steve. This will be my fourth year of teaching 2nd grade at
Pleasant Valley. I felt welcomed from the moment I began teaching at PV and
having enjoyed working with such a great community of teachers and parents.
This past May, my husband and I welcomed our first son, Owen, into the world
and feel blessed each day to have him in our lives and can't believe how
quickly he is growing.
I grew up in Novato and went to West Novato Elementary, Sinaloa Middle
School, and San Marin High School. I graduated from U.C. Berkeley (Go Bears!)
and received my teaching credential from Sonoma State University.
I love teaching because I feel I am helping to create our future leaders,
inventors, artists, scientists and great thinkers! I want to motivate my
students to always push themselves to achieve their personal best.
My name is Angela Villaluna and I have been a teacher for 12 years. I
wanted to be a teacher ever since I was in the first grade. Although I
experienced many difficulties in school, I had the desire to become the
teacher who made learning fun! With that drive, I started helping in the
local schools at a very early age. After high school, I attended Santa Rosa
Junior College to pursue an AA in Child Development. I went on to Sonoma
State University where I received my BA in Liberal Studies with a
concentration in Multicultural Studies. I immediately pursued my teaching
credential through Chapman University. Before I was finished, I accepted a
teaching position at Sun Valley School in San Rafael. There, I taught
second grade for 5 years and then looped with my second graders to third. I
remained at third grade for 5 years. In order to be closer to home and
family, I made the move to Pleasant Valley School this year. I am so happy
to be here with my new second grade class!
I have lived here in Novato for 8 years with my husband Joe, daughter
Katrina and son Devin. Glad to be Home!
Mission For The Class
That we always work together as a team and have fun each and every day!
I grew up in San Rafael. I attended U.C. Davis and received my Bachelor of
Arts in Economics with a minor in Asian American Studies. After college I
worked for an Investment Banking firm for 3 years, but decided that teaching
and helping kids was what I really wanted to do. I attended Sacramento State
University and received my teaching credential. I taught 6th-8th, 1st grade,
and 2nd grade for 4 years in Sacramento before moving back to the Bay Area to
be closer to my family. Last year, I taught 5th grade for NUSD. This will be
my 6th year teaching and 1st year at Pleasant Valley. I am extremely excited
to be a part of the PV family and looking forward to working with a talented
and supported community of teachers and parents.
My goals are to instill the love of learning in all children, help each child
achieve their highest individual potential, and create a fun and educational
experience.
-stimulate curiosity about the world
-provide an understanding of the natural environment and the other organisms
with which we share the planet
-teach students to think critically and analyze information logically
-encourage an appreciation of people and their different points of view
-give students the skills and confidence to move forward towards a
successful and productive life
My name is Lori Marston. I grew up in Novato and attended Novato Public Schools. I went to Olive
Elementary, San Jose Middle, and Novato High (Go HORNETS). I attended Chico State University,
where I received my teaching credential with an area of concentration in Physical Education. I loved
Chico, especially all of the backpacking, rock climbing, and mountaineering classes that were
offered. I left Chico and moved to Homer, Alaska for a summer job. I enjoyed living in a tent and
meeting new and interesting people. I moved back home and got a job in a private school in
Windsor. It was not what I was looking for. Therefore, I applied to Novato Unified. I got a job that I
adore. I have taught Kindergarten, Fourth Grade GATE, and Fifth Grade.
I currently live with two German Wire Hair Pointers ( Barney & Rigby ) my husband Grant, son Peter,
and my daughter Megan. I truly love being a mom and hanging with my family. We love Cal Football
Games, BBQ's, and Friends and family. My mom lives in town and helps out a lot. I love Pleasant
Valley.
In a nutshell: the elementary teacher who became an elementary librarian and
eventually a middle school librarian, and then, became an elementary teacher
again. I have worked long enough to see the cycle completed. The work began
in San Francisco, continued in New York city, and will be finishing in Novato.
In another nutshell: the mother of three wonderful kids. I am waiting to be a
grandmother with baited breath.
Mission For The Class
For my students to be curious about the world around them, to love themselves,
and to begin to have tools to be successful in middle school.
