DIRECT FUNDING PROGRAM UPDATE

As of this update, sixty six (66) of the 290 P.V. families have contributed to our Direct Funding Program, raising $23,750 in support of our PTA programs for next year. We are off to a solid start, but we are still significantly short of our funding need of $65,000.
With school budget cuts looming for next year, we need every family to do what they can to support our school programs. We must raise the funding for our core PTA programs before May 1, 2008 in order to set the budget for the 2008/09 programs. PTA core programs include teacher supply grants, field trips, computer lab, assemblies, disaster supplies, science lab supplies, kindergarten P.E., art docent supplies and much more. If we fall short of our funding goal, PTA programs that our children enjoy will be reduced or eliminated according to the funding we have obtained.
The main intent of the Direct Funding program is to reduce the number of parent volunteer hours that have been required for fundraising in prior years, and our PTA needs your financial support for this plan to work.
The Dinner/Dance event on May 10, 2008 will be a social event that will include some fundraising, but as promised, our parent community will not be asked for contributions for class baskets and class projects this year. Funds raised at the Dinner/Dance event will be allocated to funding our wish list items, which are brought forward by teachers and parents after the core PTA budget for 2008/09 is voted in by our PTA members.

Monthly payment plans are in place for numerous families, and we encourage every family to contribute what they can afford.
